PATRIOTIC Front (PF) Ndeke ward councillor Evans Nsokolo yesterday pleaded not guilty to one count of obtaining money by false pretences when he appeared before the Kitwe Magistrates Court.
Last month, Nsokolo escaped jail after a case in which he was facing three counts of obtaining money by false pretences was discontinued upon paying back the money he was alleged to have obtained by false pretences.
Nsokolo, 37, of house number 512 Sub A Ndeke Changa Changa in Kitwe, appeared before Magistrate Kapinda Chipamu.
Particulars of the offence were that in June last year, with intent to defraud; Nsokolo did get K17, 000 from Chrispin Mwanza by falsely pretending that he had a plot for sale, when in fact not.
Magistrate Chipamu asked Nsokolo if he understood the charge and how he wanted to plead.
In response, Nsokolo pleaded not guilty to the charge and asked for bail which was granted after the prosecution raised no objection.
Magistrate Chipamu granted Nsokolo a K10, 000 cash bail on condition that he produced two working sureties who were Government officials in a pensionable job and were also Kitwe residents. After spending 10 days at Kamfinsa Remand Prison where he was sent by Kitwe Principal Resident Magistrate Ikechukwu Iduma for failure to appear in court, Nsokolo appeared in court and paid back the money to the three complainants.
