A CUSTOMER service officer of Banc ABC who allegedly murdered her husband appeared in the Lusaka Magistrates Court for the explanation of her charge.

Precious Longwe Litebele, 30, of unknown house number off Buluwe Road, Woodlands Extension, who was accused of shooting her husband Akakanda Lubinda Litebele five times after a domestic dispute on May 25, 2016, appeared before Chief Resident Magistrate Kenneth Mulife for the explanation of her charge.

When the matter came up, the magistrate read out the charge of murder which she told the court that she understood.

However, Longwe could not take plea as the charge of murder she is facing is only triable by the High Court.

Mr Mulife advised Longwe to be only appearing before his court for mention as she awaited the Director of Public Prosecutions to issue instructions to commit her to the High Court for trial.

Meanwhile, another house wife, Elizabeth Lungu Nkhoma, 26, of Lusaka’s Kalingalinga compound who allegedly stabbed her husband, Anthony Nkhoma, on May 4, yesterday also appeared before Magistrate Felix Kaoma for an explanation of her charge.

When the matter came up, the charge was read out to her and she told the court that she  understood the charge levelled against her.

She did not also take plea as the charge of murder she is facing is only triable by the High Court.

Lungu was also advised to be only appearing before court for mention as she awaited the Director of Public Prosecutions to issue instructions to commit her to the High Court for trial.

They are both expected to appear before court for their mention on June 28 and 24 respectively.
