A 23-year-old man of Lusaka who attempted to corrupt the Zambia Army Commander with a K300 has been discharged by the Lusaka Magistrates Court after the State entered a nolle prosequi.

Robert Phiri 28 was set to freedom by Magistrate Soche Zulu after the Director of Public Prosecutions instructed the state prosecutor  to apply for  discharge of the accused.

However Ms Zulu warned Phiri that as discharge was not an acquittal, he would still be brought back to court to answer the alleged charges.

He is facing a charge of one count of corrupt practices with a public officer,

Phiri is alleged to have on August 1 and 9 last year corruptly offer a K 300 cash gratification to the Zambia army Commander as an inducement to be offered employment.

He had enclosed a K 300 in an application letter as an inducement to be offered employment in the Zambia Army.
