A 23-YEAR-OLD woman told a Local Court in Lusaka that her husband refuses to make love to her because she does not wash her body.
This was heard in Kanyama Local Court in a case in which Gloria Nsangu, 23, of John Laing compound sued her husband, Evelyn Habulembe, 31, for divorce on allegation that he had married another woman.
The two got married in 2010 and have two children.
Nsangu told Senior Court Magistrate Daniel Phiri sitting with Magistrates Sarah Nyendwa and Ackim Phiri that all was well until 2013 when Habulembe started denying her conjugal rights claiming she was dirty. He would beat her while she was naked in presence of children.
She further said her husband stopped showing her his pay slip and developed a bad habit of hiding money.
Nsangu said in 2014 Habulembe packed her belongings on three occasions and threw them outside but she did not leave the matrimonial home.
“On August 3, 2015 Habulembe packed for me and booked a vehicle and that is how I left the matrimonial home. I thought he would change his mind and come to get me back but instead on March 12, 2016 he married another woman,” said Nsangu.
In defence, Habulembe said that Nsangu was lazy and had no love for him, adding that she misused money.
He explained that his father in-law shouted at him and told him in his face that he was not the father of the couple’s children.
Magistrate Phiri adjourned the matter to April 5, for judgment.
