A FORMER Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) director has sued Government for non-payment of her retirement benefits amounting to K2.6 million.
Kayombo Ngandu, former ACC director in charge of corruption prevention has sued the Attorney General and the Public Service Pensions Fund Board for non-payment of her terminal benefits following her retirement in 2014, upon reaching the age of 55 years.
Ms Ngandu has requested the Lusaka High Court to immediately compel the Pensions Fund board to pay her K2,641,518.26 calculated as gratuity lump sum payment for her retirement.
“Through a letter written by the Director General of the ACC dated the 12th May 2014, the plaintiff was given notice of her retirement from the Public Service and assurance that she would be paid terminal benefits and repatriation allowance at an appropriate time in line with the ACC Conditions of Service.
“The plaintiff has suffered financial loss, hardship, loss of investment opportunities and inconveniences and now the plaintiff claims for payment of K2,641,518.26 being lump sum pension gratuity, interest on the said sum and any relief the court may deem fit,” she said.
Mr Ngandu explained that she worked in the public service for 32 years and four months unbroken service and contributed to the mandatory PSPF statutory monthly financial dues towards her pension.
She said despite numerous demands, reminders and requests to her former employers to pay her terminal benefits, they have lamentably failed or refused to respond favourably towards paying her pension benefits.
