A 40-YEAR-OLD woman narrated before a Local Court in Lusaka that she was no longer interested in her husband because she caught him red-handed making love with another woman.
This is in a case in which Dorcas Nsonka of 9 miles sued her husband, Peter Chigailo, 42, for divorce.
However, Chigailo said that he still loved his wife. The two got married in 1994 and have six children.
Nsonka told Senior Court Magistrate Lewis Mumba sitting with Magistrate Petronella Kalyelye at Matero Local Court that two weeks ago she found Chigailo making love with another woman and had since lost interest in him.
She explained that problems in their marriage started shortly after they married because Chigailo was abandoning her as he went after other women.
Nsonka said that in 2006 Chigailo deserted her and married two other women whom he later abandoned.
Nsonka further said that when Chigailo came back to her in 2010 she thought he was a changed man, but the situation did not improve.
In defence, Chigailo said that he left the other women because he was now born again and respected Christian values that allowed him to marry only one woman.
He explained that the time Nsonka found him with another woman was when he went to get the money she had borrowed from him.
Magistrate Mumba divorced the couple without
compensation and gave the custody of children to Nsonka and ordered Chigailo to be paying monthly maintenance of K400.
